What was the theme of the wedding?
Technically, the theme was "Rising of the Shield Hero", a medieval-esque anime that Quinn and I both very much enjoy. In it, the main protagonist is "The Shield Hero", and the main love interest uses a sword to fight on his behalf. So... Sword and Shield was our theme!
Where did you have your wedding?
Havre House LV, the coolest venue I've ever been to in my life. All on one property, the venue contains a Western Village, an English Tea Garden, a Pirate Village, a Mermaid Saloon, and a Medieval Village. If you ever need to host a truly memorable event, please talk to Moe (the owner). You won't regret it!
How many people attended the event?
We had about 95 guests in attendance! The event was a beautiful ceremony and reception, filled with people we loved surrounding us on all sides. It was a spectacular event, and we certainly could feel an outpouring of love all around us. Thank you to all those who went, and to all of those we love who could not make it, we love you with all our hearts, and hope you know how truly important you are to us.
Where is Havre House LV?
The venue is in Henderson, NV. It is truly mind-blowing to see!
What was there to do at the wedding?
We had a cannabis lounge in the "Traveler's Tavern" in the Western Village section for our guests (complete with a Volcano Hybrid Vaporizer and our friend, Mutt, our Budtender), a dance floor with a dragon-pulled carriage in the Medieval Village section, a wide array of seating and tables in the Pirate Village, a buffet-style area in the Mermaid Saloon (which later became a spot to get custom-twisted balloons), and a gorgeous ceremony space in the entrance area, the English Tea Garden section.
What kind of ceremony did you both have?
Our handfasting ceremony was a handwritten script, combining traditions from Norse, Gaelic, and Pagan practices.
What Happened During the Ceremony?
In order, the ceremony had these main steps:
Opening the Ceremony Circle, the Candle Ceremony, Braiding the Handfasting Chord, the Handfasting Tying, Exchanging Our Vows, Exchanging the Rings, Sharing a Ritual Glass of Mead, Our First Kiss, and finally, Closing the Ceremony Circle/Walking Under the Swords.
Who Catered your handfasting?
Jaii's Events! The food was delicious, beautifully put together, and they showed me and my husband kindness beyond words. 10/10, would recommend.
What Flavor was your wedding cake?
A chocolate Costco sheet cake, a chocolate Costco round cake, and a top tier of Tiramisu. Quinn and I absolutely love chocolate, and my Nana's favorite cake is Tiramisu. It's a combination made in heaven!
What song was your first dance to?
We originally picked "Cavan Girl" by The High Kings, but due to technical difficulties, we danced to "Be My Baby" by Michael Buble!
What did Quinn and his mother dance to for their Mother and Son dance?
Wendy and Quinn chose to dance to "Highway to Hell" by AC/DC! It made for a really memorable dance and some great pictures!
What was your favorite part of the wedding?
Honestly, every moment I got to see Quinn was my favorite. And for Quinn, he answered the same when asked.
Do you have a wedding hashtag?
Yes we do! The hashtag is #QASwordAndShield if you want to upload any photos from the event anywhere.
